Charity Membership Officer – 3 days per week

WR Fundraising Recruitment is delighted to be working with a very well established, small and vibrant youth development charity.


At an exciting time of development that includes the development of growth strategies, we are recruiting for a Membership Officer to develop relationships with the charity’s members; ensuring relevant engagement and communications are maintained, detailing benefits of memberships and encouraging regular giving fundraising.


Duties will include:

  • Work to increase Membership recruitment and retention and regular giving fundraising

  • Manage relationships with discount/benefit partners.

  • Plan and implement Member and other regular giving communications

  • Explore and run any accreditation benefits for Members

  • Work with Marketing Department to produce and distribute quarterly Member Magazine.

  • Ownership of email distribution lists.

  • Manage and maintain Member data ensuring the CRM is accurate and up to date and GDPR compliant in relation to Member data.

  • Plan and implement regular giving communications and collections from Members.


We are seeking candidates with a strong record of engaging with members / stakeholders with the ability to manage a membership programme including writing compelling communications and encouraging individual giving.


Applicants will need:

  • Experience in a similar membership, supporter engagement or individual giving / fundraising  role in charity or commercial setting

  • Experience of working in membership, managing a defined interest community or network or supporting regular giving.

  • Ability to identify the interests and motivations of stakeholder groups and tailor communications accordingly

  • sound understanding of recruitment and engagement campaigns

  • proven track record of supporting a community/delivering membership and/or retention communications

  • Experience of email communications software, ideally Mailchimp.

  • Experience of managing Direct Debit and Gift Aid administration and their legal frameworks.

  • Experience of CRM essential.

  • Data Protection knowledge and understanding of GDPR

  • Ability to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds using appropriate language and media.

  • Proficient use of databases and CRM systems
