Chief Operations Officer

WR Fundraising Recruitment is looking for senior leader to oversee the continued growth of a global mental health charity. Leading a committed and diverse team, this role will be responsible for the day-to-day management and operations for the charity across all areas of operation, driving forward growth, while delivering high levels of support and governance.

 

Working closely with the CEO, this role will be pivotal in the continued expansion of the charity into the USA, as well as leading on the development and delivery of key operational frameworks, such as monitoring and evaluation programmes, marketing, communications, fundraising, and overall delivery of the organisational strategy. With a complex and varied remit, the right candidate for this role will have an extensive track record in operational leadership, high levels of commercial acumen, and a well-developed understanding of charity law, governance, and responsibility.

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Leadership and management of daily operations to enable effective delivery of operational strategy

  • Developing and implementing an effective people strategy to ensure all staff achieve their potential

  • Management and review of the organisation monitoring and evaluation frameworks

  • Working closely with the fundraising, communications, and partnerships teams to ensure successful delivery of all programmes

  • Oversight of organisational risk and assurance frameworks

  • Working with the finance and operations team to integrate HR and IT across all projects and ensure a robust programme of internal and external reporting

  • Manage key stakeholders and external suppliers to expectations, and address performance where needed

  • Ensure high levels of governance and communication with trustees/committee members

  • Provide oversight of the set-up and operations for the USA entity

 

Applicants will need:

  • Significant experience at senior leadership level, excelling in both strategic and inspirational leadership

  • A successful record in operations, covering all aspects of organisational management, such as finance, HR, project management, and strategic planning and performance

  • A solid understanding of charity law and governance responsibilities

  • Strong people management skills, with experience of developing high performance teams

  • A proven ability to work collaboratively, able to influence and engage a wide range of audiences

  • Exceptional communications skills

  • A high level of commercial acumen, able to identify challenges and opportunities, and create solutions for both.

  • A broad working knowledge of international advocacy and campaigning
