Communications Manager

Work Relief Charity Recruitment is acting on behalf of one of London’s most recognisable homeless support charities and recruiting for a Communications Manager to manage a small  communications teams -  improving external and internal communications work (especially across digital comms and emerging platforms) and developing income generation / fundraising targets.


The ideal candidate will bring experience of successfully delivering awareness raising and/or charity / income generation campaigns within a communications team.  They will be results and outcome-orientated, managing routes to market, marketing collateral and digital and social media. 


Duties will include:

  • Implement the stakeholder strategy, improving external and internal communications work, increasing awareness of brand and work across London, to support fundraising and awareness raising campaigns.

  • Manage a step change increase in the number of our supporters via digital communications including a the development of the website for fundraising purposes, creative video content as a means to raise awareness, and develop creative ways to use digital for data collection and fundraising.

  • Manage, develop and coach direct reports (Communications Officer) to support them to excel in their role.

  • Manage marketing elements of campaigns with PR Agency, to deliver high quality creative work that is relevant and compelling to audiences.

  • To work with the Head of Business Development to deliver fundraising campaigns to achieve income generation targets.

  • To support the team to develop marketing / communications projects for the fundraising pipeline

  • Support the team to, and lead on, the delivery of key communications deliverables across the year, including reports, microsites, videos, web content and supporter newsletters.


This is a super role within a very high profile health charity which will inevitably lead to the successful candidate furthering a career within third sector. We see this as an ideal role for an experienced communications, marketing or digital marketing professional with a proven track record of providing creative and engaging marketing and social media content.


The ideal candidate will have:

  • Significant and demonstrable experience of delivering income generating or awareness raising communications, particularly integrated campaigns, across a range of platforms at a managerial level.

  • Substantial track record in developing and delivering communications strategies to both internal and external stakeholders through a range of marketing streams.

  • Significant experience of increasing supporters through digital comms

  • Project and/or event management experience, including managing external agencies.

  • Managing printed collateral for fundraising purposes.

  • Understanding of the key principles of effective stakeholder engagement and communications

  • Use of emerging technology, particularly around digital and ability to harness these in order to meet aims. 

  • Ability to write content and messaging to the highest level, including advanced proof reading skills.

  • Experience as a people manager, supporting and empowering people to work independently
