Development Director

WR is currently looking for a talented and versatile fundraiser for an exciting opportunity at a London-based human rights charity. Initially for a 6-month term, this role has the potential to become permanent and will take a lead role in the development of a fundraising and communications strategy.


This varied role will include arranging a significant anniversary event, and bringing together an effective strategy for engaging with a diversely located supporter base. There is a large amount of flexibility for the right candidate with remote and flexible working all open to negotiation.

Key responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Develop and implement a fundraising strategy to drive a sustainable long-term increase in income

  • Plan and deliver a key anniversary fundraising event, managing all aspects to achieve a successful return on investment, recruit new supporters, and maximise engagement across all stakeholders

  • Develop relationships with current and prospective supporters, driving best practice in donor stewardship

  • Ensure evaluations and impact measurements are in place and develop evidence-based recommendations for existing and future fundraising activities

The ideal candidate for this role will:

  • Be a proven fundraiser with a track record of generating income across a range of donor streams, including events, trusts, and major donors

  • Be an outstanding project manager, with experience in engaging a variety of supporters

  • Be a confident communicator, able to present complex and detailed information to a range of audiences

  • Be self-motivated and adaptable, able to work collaboratively within a small team

  • Have experience of success in organising and managing large scale fundraising events

  • Have an understanding of charity finance, able to set budgets and deliver alongside organisational strategy targets
