Development Director

WR Fundraising Recruitment are looking for an outstanding candidate for a high-profile children’s charity, based in the beautiful county of Dorset. As the new Development Director, you will be leading on the development and management of fundraising, PR, and trading, working closely with the CEO and senior management team to drive forward growth across the organisation.

 

This exciting opportunity will need an experienced candidate who has a proven track record across a range of income streams, and is ambitious and driven, able to drive growth and income. You will be leading a strong team across a wide range of fundraising disciplines, providing guidance, support, strategy, and insight.

 

Key responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Develop and deliver an ambitious fundraising strategy, encompassing all income streams, trading, and PR 

  • Support the fundraising team managers, ensuring targets are achieved, and identifying opportunities to develop further income

  • Lead on all major appeals, developing supporter steering groups, and innovating new approaches to fundraising

  • Oversee all marketing and fundraising, driving public relations and generating opportunities for media coverage while developing supporter communication channels

  • Ensure effective oversight of retail, driving profitability and developing strategy for new sites and improved performance of existing ones

  • Develop the network of HNWI and influencers/ambassadors to generate high level support for the organisation

  • Be an active part of the Executive Team, supporting the CEO with strategy, teambuilding, and leadership, taking overall responsibility for income generation and brand image

 

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

  • Significant experience and success in leading and managing a fundraising department

  • Experience of devising, directing and implementing strategy in fundraising

  • Proven ability to network at very senior level with top corporate executives or  wealthy individuals or Patrons and forge major new partnerships

  • Ability to innovate, developing new and expanding income streams strategically and effectively, and developing new markets

  • Ability to forecast income, manage budgets and account for income and expenditure, accurately

  • Ability to work well in, and to lead, manage and motivate a team

  • willingness to travel frequently between Dorset and Wiltshire and work across both counties when required
