Fundraising and Development Officer – Trusts and Grants

If you have an interest in conservation and the environment, are an experienced trusts and grants fundraiser, and would like to combine the two in your next role, then WR Fundraising Recruitment have the ideal opportunity for you. Based in our client’s central London office, you will be leading on generating income through substantial statutory, trust, corporate and other grant funders.

Working across the charity’s various departments and partners, this exciting role will need someone confident and enthused by the many environmental and scientific challenges that the organisation address. You will be working closely with researchers and scientists to develop compelling applications and presentations for major project funding. As such you’ll need to be extremely well-organised and to enjoy leading on a portfolio of projects.

The ideal candidate for this role will be:

  • Able to demonstrate a track record for writing compelling and successful grant applications

  • Highly organised, confident working across a range of organisational projects

  • Experienced, with at least three years working in charity or non-profit fundraising

  • An exceptional communicator, with excellent written and presentation skills

  • Empathetic and collaborative in their approach, able to work as an advocate with internal and external stakeholders

  • Knowledgeable in grant funding, funder motivations and long-term implications of funding packages and commitments

  • Engaged and enthused by the work of the organisation, and the wider environment and conservation stakeholders it engages with

 

Responsibilities and duties will include:

  • Develop and lead on the implementation of a 2-3 yr strategy for grant, trust and statutory funding

  • Work with the internal teams and with NGO partners to understand current and new areas of work, identify opportunities for funding and promote grant funding opportunities

  • Support efforts in raising the profile projects that have been grant funded, providing regular material for newsletters, e-bulletins and other communications

  • Monitor, evaluate and report on projects, maintaining detailed records, and providing regular updates to management, trustees, and stakeholders

  • Ensure best practice during development of plans and budgets for large scale project bids, working across the charity to deliver strategic objectives

  • Contribute to overall funding strategies to improve response to grant opportunities, maintain existing funding and identify new opportunities

  • Advocacy with grant decision makers and ensuring project staff are aware of grant funder terms and condition
