Head of Fundraising - Children's Charity

WR Fundraising Recruitment is delighted to be working with an inspirational and ambitious small children’s charity and recruiting for a new Head of Fundraising to develop and implement a successful fundraising strategy and play a major role in ensuring the charity achieves its targets over the next 3 years.


Focussing on trusts and corporate fundraising, we’re looking for an experience fundraising professional from a similar role or who’s ready for the next step up in their career to work closely with a friendly SMT and take responsibility for the charity’s fundraising strategy and successes.


We welcome applications from experienced fundraising professionals who are keen to undertake a new challenge and bring their own ideas to an exciting role that will diversify income streams.


Scope for this role to become full time depending on the success of the appointed candidate – or to take on additional staff if part time is preferred.


Duties will include:

  • Build relationships and income from new and existing trusts and foundations

  • Research and develop relationships to secure fundraising opportunities with grant giving bodies

  • Write tailored, inspirational fundraising applications and project reports addressing grant-making priorities or requirements as specified

  • Develop and maintain reporting and application systems and coordinate information across the team

  • Develop a strategy for a corporate fundraising plan which attracts funding

  • Work with the CEO and board of Trustees to create an attractive package for corporate sponsorship.

  • Research and approach corporates with a package of services to be delivered in return for financial or gift in kind sponsorship.

  • Plan a schedule of annual fundraising events, taking the lead on organisation and coordination of organised events and individual fundraising.


We are seeking candidates with a strong record of achievement in trusts and possibly corporate fundraising for this exciting opportunity. The role is key to the development of this innovative organisation’s strategy.


Applicants will need:

  • Experience of developing and implementing trust, foundation and corporate fundraising programmes.

  • Experience of developing income from trusts, foundations and grant-giving bodies

  • Experience or demonstrable knowledge of the principals of effective corporate and community fundraising

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for a wide range of audiences

  • Demonstrable ability to develop relationships with donors

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a small team

Job Location

Abingdon, Oxfordshire (flexible working including home working)


Up to £35,000 per annum pro rata on experience
