Head of Major Donors

A global health charity with a prominent UK presence providing information, research, and advocacy, are looking for an exceptional individual to take on this exciting new role within the fundraising team. With a track record of success in the acquisition, development, and stewardship of major donors, the successful candidate will take a pivotal role in the growth of the charity’s philanthropy income.

 

Working closely with the CEO and Senior Team, as well as across key internal teams, this senior fundraising role will take a lead in developing a transformative strategy to grow a successful philanthropy and major donor programme into something exceptional.  

 

Key responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Develop and implement a strategy for the cultivation and stewardship of all major donor partnerships

  • Work closely with the CEO preparing plans for key donors and prospects, advising and supporting the CEO around key relationships and delivery of major donor strategy

  • Manage and develop the major donor portfolio and programmes, maximising long-term commitments to the charity

  • Produce annual plans, budget and key performance indicators for the Philanthropy programme

  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to generate new donor prospects, identify opportunities to steward and uplift existing supporters, and develop high value products aimed at major donors

  • Work closely with international affiliates to identify potential global opportunities for major donor fundraising

 

The ideal candidate for this role will be:

  • Proven at asking for and securing major gifts

  • Experienced working with major donors and philanthropists

  • Confident and experienced in uplifting gifts from current supporters

  • Knowledgeable in donor stewardship and development

  • Able to write clear and informative reports for external and internal audiences

  • A skilled and capable networker, with ability and willingness to work an event

  • Knowledgeable in the philanthropy industry and understanding of key trends and preferences
