Sporting Events Fundraising Assistant

WR Fundraising Recruitment has an exciting Sporting Events Fundraising Assistant vacancy for a very high profile charity.

 

We are looking for an outgoing person with excellent organisational skills who has experience or a demonstrable interest in fundraising events – particularly running and cycling.

 

You will assist in generating income through a programme of fundraising events and activities which are predominantly running and cycling based. The role is key to supporting the team by providing administration to supporters taking part in events through telephone, email and sending out event materials to help them with their fundraising efforts.

In a varied role that will include attending events and some overnight stays, duties will include:

  • Maintaining high quality data on the database

  • Ensuring information gathered is recorded in accordance with the requirements of the Data Protection Act.

  • Working closely with all members of the Sporting Events team to promote activities and recruit supporters to take part and fundraise, whilst engaging with them on a personal level, motivating them to support us and maximise their fundraising efforts.

  • Build relationships with event participants and proactively contact them by phone, email and letter. Offer motivation and fundraising advice.

  • Be the first point of call for participant enquiries, and a first responder for general charity enquiries.

  • Attend events in person with the Sporting Events team to support event participants. On occasion an overnight stay will be required.

  • Draft copy for the website and e-newsletters, and assist the Sporting Events team in producing branded materials for events or incentives.

  • Assist the Sporting Events team in recruiting participants across their full events programme and ensure they are fully registered to take part.

 

Ideal Candidates will have:

  • Experience / demonstrable interest in sporting events such as cycling and running

  • Excellent communication skills via telephone, email, letter and Digital

  • Strong eye for detail

  • Experience of using a database to maintain accurate records and reporting on results

  • Excellent organisational skills to support complex activity streams – using own initiative when required and able to manage multiple and competing priorities and deliver in a fast-paced environment

  • Experienced at coordinating activity between teams to support effective working across the whole organisation

  • Proven analytical skills

  • Confident using social media platforms

  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and act with discretion when handling  sensitive and confidential information
